It’s already been a busy year for Left Hand Red. As well as spending a couple of weeks working on our new demos, we’ve had a handful of gigs lined up, with a couple more hopefully in the works. Here’s this year’s gigs so far, including the couple we’ve done recently.
- Thursday January 24th – Pavilion Tavern, Brighton
- Thursday February 2nd – Rock Brighton, The Engine Room, Brighton
- Thursday March 2nd – Cable Club, Pressure Point, Brighton
- Saturday March 4th – Charity thing at the Con Club, Newhaven
- Monday March 13th – Freebutt, Brighton with Dead! Dead! Dead!
- Saturday April 29th – Stringbendy’s, Eastbourne
Yep, we decided to trash the previous recordings. They drums just weren’t right, and we’re a bunch of
sulky artists perfectionists.
But the good news is that we went back in to the studio again last night, and have come out with some spangly new drums with a bit more care and preparation put in this time around. We’ve gone for a fairly raw sound (just four mics submixed and recorded to stereo) which should complement the songs well. As before, we’ve gone for Clockwork and Against the Grain.
I’ve not had a chance to listen back today with a fresh pair of ears, but I’m confident that it should provide a solid foundation for the first two tracks on our new demo. More news as we go along.
A big thanks to Lee from Best Left Dead for lending us the mics.
A huge thanks is due to my most excellent friend Dan Palmer for a great weekend in Canterbury. During my time there, we attended a housewarming party, and after Jane joined us on Saturday, wandered around the beautiful city, visited the enormous cathedral, spent the evening in a local venue listening to country/funk bands and after one or two beverages ate a ton of fried chicken.
Can’t wait to do it all again some time soon!
